Enhancing activities and potentials (October 2002)
A couple of months have passed since the last newsletter, mainly because the update for the webdesign-tool of this homepage (NetObjects Fusion) was delivered later than expected. Also various corrections and improvements have been implemented on this homepage, and new computers have been installed at CICB as well as partially at providers and supporting organisations.
The past months were intense and it is a great pleasure to see that CICB is on the right track! Partnership and activities with A+O Career Group are very successful as well as assessments for a management vacancy at Pro Senectute. The seminars held at the University for Economics Lucerne lead to a teaching assignment for Thomas Baumer (Chairman of CICB), from summer 2003.
The first course Uniqueness as Competitive Advantage in the Intercultural Surroundings and the publicly advertised course at the ETH Zurich had to be postponed - the reasons can be found in the presently challenging economical situation in general as well as in further needs for advertisement.
CICB is able to extend its services, mainly thanks to the successful cooperation with partner-organisations, especially with Dr. Jörg Sorg (perSens).
The Handbook Intercultural Competence has been sold more than 1000 times so far, and the reviews are extremely positive.
Activities in November are (in German) lectures to the topics „Expatriates and Preparing for Foreign Cultures” (on 12 November, organized by ASN Services for Expatriates) and „Market Eastern Europe: Economical and Cultural Characteristics” at the „Swiss Export Management Forum 2002” (7 and 21 November, organized by the Association Swiss Export; information and enrolment here). CICB will also be present in the yearbook Opportunities for the Future 2003, which is distributed to all university graduates in Switzerland.
